I am now offering a family photograph album design and supply service…..
Families today take thousands of photographs with their cameras, and, particularly their phones. For many these photographs will sit forever on computer hard drives rarely viewed. Many of us, unlike our parents, never collate and present these pictures in albums for future generations to view and treasure. Our parents may have albums full of blurry bleached out photographs of people stood awkwardly in front of random places but their value is unquantifiable. It is only after loved ones pass away do we truly recognise the importance and role photographs have to play in our lives. We lead busier and busier lives and finding the time to organise family photographs and present them in albums is becoming increasingly difficult. Go online and there are countless companies offering do-it-yourself digital photo albums but they still rely on you doing all the time consuming leg work of preparing your photographs to lay out over the pages of an album.
The risk we run is our children will simply inherit hard drives full of thousands of images, and they too will be overwhelmed at the thought of sorting them into books. Family photo albums are a legacy, they are history, they provide us with a sense of belonging and help us understand who we are and where we came from.
Part of my job as a professional photographer is to design photo albums for my clients. I’ve done this now for almost 20 years. I’ve supplied literally thousands of books over that time. I am now expanding my service to offer families and individuals the opportunity to have their own precious photos designed into books. I will do all the hard work of ensuring the pictures look their best for printing and then lay them out so they sit well together and flow though an album.
The process is simple. You send me your digital pictures via Dropbox or Wetransfer, it could be 50 or 1000, it’s entirely up to you They could be general family snaps from the last 10 years, or photographs from a special family occasion or holiday. Or you may be wishing to give a book of old photos to a grandparent as a present. Having received your pictures I’ll get them looking great and then design a book with them all in. You can even ask to have your pictures with accompanying text. I’ll then ask you to approve the design online, and once you’re happy, the book is ordered and a few weeks later it arrives at your home. I offer a range of books to choose from, starting with the Digital Book. (See pictures below). These have a hard cover, premium print paper and durable traditional library binding ensuring longevity. They come in a range of sizes 7″ square, 10″x8″ landscape and 12″ square. If your budget can accommodate it you could choose a Picture Book with rigid lay flat pages and a leather or linen cover. (again please see examples below). It’s not a problem if your photographs are not digital. Just post me your prints special delivery. We scan them and create a high quality digital copy for use in the book. If your old photographs require restoration work we can take care of that too.
